Fall Open Reading Overview

Congratulations to Stinne Storm whose book, ocean psalm, was selected for Gold Wake Press publication. The book is experimental but lush and beautiful in its language and it reminds us to listen to the rhythms of the earth. Soon, we should have a cover to show you and the book is due for release in spring 2027.

Here are the finalists:

CJ Maruyama’s I, as in We;

Zelda Knapp’s Every Place We Land is Home;

Samantha Kennedy’s Under the Porchlight;

Nicholas Regiacorte’s Cyclorama; and

Brandon Lamson’s Fathom Three.

It was a pleasure to read such a robust set of entries and the talent level is very high. Thanks to all who submitted.

Spring 2025 Open Reading

We just finished up making our way through all the submissions and it was a smorgasbord of genres and styles. Our readers found some gems among so many strong entries. We had a hard time narrowing it down as the writing seems to be improving each time we make an open call. But in the end we whittled it down to five manuscripts.

Congratulations to the Spring Open Reading Finalists’ List for Gold Wake:

  • Adrienne Pine’s Home Front,
  • Avren Keating’s Interior Weather,
  • Carmen Di Blasé’s Falling into the Avon,
  • Stan Yeatts’ Hologlyphs III – Vespers

And this year’s winner is Late to the Sky by Charles Cobean and Josephine LoRe! This collaboration of poetry shows the energy created when two poets fuel each other by volleying back and forth with wit, grit, and dynamic language! A sensory overload to say the least. What a joy to read this book and we cannot wait to publish it next summer (August 2026).
